'I met him yesterday, he is...' - Suresh Raina drops big news on MS Dhoni ahead of his 18th-season IPL appearance

Former India batter and now the commentator, Suresh Raina recently came up with a big news for all the fans of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The news shared by Raina was also a big one for the ardent MS Dhoni fans, who are eagerly waiting to see the former legendary India skipper back in action in the cash-rich Indian franchise league.

During a pre-match show before the start of the India vs England third ODI in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Raina revealed about his meeting with MS Dhoni. The former batting all-rounder also shared an update about his former skipper, both in CSK and in Team India.

“I met MS Dhoni yesterday, he is looking very strong ahead of IPL 2025,” said Raina to official broadcasters before the start of India vs England third ODI. 

Notably, Raina had played for a long time for CSK and Team India under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. The two shared the dressing room in two of the historic moments for the men in blue, in the ODI World Cup 2011 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Raina was a part of India’s champion squad in both the prestigious cricket quadrennials. 

Except for playing for GL in IPL 2016 and IPL 2017, Raina played for CSK in his entire IPL career from 2008 to IPL 2021. In his illustrious IPL career, Mr IPL scored 5528 runs in 200 innings of the 205 matches he played, with a decent batting average of 32.51. He also smashed a century and 39 half-centuries with the bat.

MS Dhoni to be in IPL action after a year-long wait

Speaking of MS Dhoni, he will be in action in the IPL 2025 after a year-long wait for his fans since he appeared last time in IPL 2024. The former World Champion skipper was picked by the multi-time IPL champions CSK as an uncapped player for an amount of INR 4 crores.

Dhoni was picked as an uncapped player because he had already retired from international cricket.
