India winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 is a massive thing for the Indian Cricket Team and all the fans, considering how long they had to wait to lift an ICC trophy. Talking about this win, former legendary Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar interpreted this win as nothing less than scoring a century, which India used to miss in their previous tournaments.

"It is a great win after such a long time. Earlier, I kept saying that India was getting 90s but not getting centuries because they were reaching semi-finals and finals. Now, they have got a century and what a wonderful century this is," said Sunil Gavaskar.

This victory came after 17 years of wait in the T20 World Cup. Overall, India had to wait for 11 years to win an ICC Trophy. They lost to Australia in the WTC Finals and ODI World Cup 2023 finals. After many disappointing games, India brought back the trophy home, which is indeed a great feeling.

India's unbeaten T20 World Cup victory

When India started their T20 World Cup journey against Ireland, nobody thought they would finish the tournament as winners. The cherry on the cake was India's unbeaten record in the tournament. They played eight matches starting from the league stages and won all eight. This World Cup will be remembered for many things, including India's unbeaten victory in the tournament.

The win against Pakistan and Australia were extra special considering the rivalry the teams have against each other. However, every Indian felt a brief grief for South Africa as they had qualified for the finals of an ICC event for the first time. Even though they lost the game, the Indian fans reached the hotel to cheer the Proteas, which was indeed a great gesture.
