Bowler Harshal Patel of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) stated he did not celebrate his wicket because he had too much respect for former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni, who was dismissed for a golden duck on Sunday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
During his four-over performance, Harshal took three wickets at an economy rate of 6.00 and gave up twenty-four runs. He got rid of Dhoni in the fifth delivery of the 19th over for a golden duck. Harshal mentioned that the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium wicket was dry during his post-first-inning remarks.
"Wicket was on the drier side. I have too much respect for him to celebrate when I get him out (on Dhoni). One of the advantages of playing a day game is that the square is quite rough. So the ball starts reversing. In my first over it was reversing," said Harshal Patel.
For an all-round performance, CSK's Ravindra Jadeja won the 'Player of the Match' award against PBKS. However, the team's batting was extremely weak as they were shattered like cards in the first innings. It was Jadeja's 43 runs and three wickets which saved the team from losing the match.
"Wanted to build a partnership of 30-40 so that we have a platform for the end. The bowlers bowled well. Always looks at a flat wicket in powerplay. But as the ball gets older, it doesn't come on very well. When you're playing at a new venue, you don't have an idea of how the pitch will be. It felt like we were 15-20 short. My role is to build a partnership if we lose early wickets," said Jadeja at the post-match presentation.
