‘I don’t understand how…’ - Matthew Hayden slams umpiring decision after Mitchell Marsh survives close call against R. Ashwin

Former Australian cricket star Matthew Hayden questions the umpiring decision after Mitchell Marsh is given huge lease of life during the Adelaide Test on Saturday.

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was given not out in controversial circumstances during the 2nd day of second Test in Adelaide. R. Ashwin seemingly was confident and India took the review. Third umpire Richard Kettleborough though ruled the decision in favor of the batter leaving India stunned. This didn’t sit down well with former Australian opener Matthew Hayden who was on commentary duties.

Hayden was heard saying, “I don't understand how we get better pictures after the decision has been made”. The ball tracking showed that the batter was out with the point of impact hitting thew stumps. Even in the first innings of the game, KL Rahul was given out in controversial fashion which caused a lot of outrage. 

Mitchell Marsh himself was out in a very strange fashion when he walked after seemingly edging the ball to Pant. The replays later showed that the ball hadn’t taken the edge of the bat. 

Travis Head’s ton drives Australia to lead of 157 

Australian batter Travis Head scored yet another century against India getting to his ton off just 111 balls. This helped the home team take a lead of 157 on the second innings of the Adelaide Test. The left-handed batter scored 140 off 141 balls with 17 fours and 4 huge sixes. 

Mohammed Siraj dismissed Head and gave him a massive send off. Both players were seen having verbal duel as the batter was making walk back ton the hut. Adelaide crowd was seen booing the pacer. Marnus Labuschagne finally came back to form as he scored 64 runs from 126 balls with the help of 9 hits to the fence. 

Jasprit Bumrah was the best bowler for India with figures of 4/61 from his 23 overs to take his series tally to 12 wickets. Mohammed Siraj picked 4/98 from 24.3 overs while Ashwin and Nitish Reddy picking a wicket each. The Aussies with overall lead of 157 runs will fancy their chances of doing well in the 2nd innings especially under lights.
