The ongoing Pakistan vs England 1st Test match has taken a dramatic turn as the visitors are trailing by 176 runs on the third session of day three. The batters have wreaked havoc on the Pakistan bowlers and are enjoying batting out there because the pitch is flat and favourable for the batters.

After the loss against Bangladesh, Pakistan's motive was to make a flat pitch that would allow the batters to play openly and score more runs, which would help them win the game. However, their plan backfired as England's Joe Root played a beautiful knock of 127 runs and is still batting.

Except for Ollie Pope, all the other batters have scored half-centuries, helping England reach 376 runs in 77 overs. The players are attacking the bowlers and playing fearless cricket. They have just lost three wickets, and many batters are yet to come.

Hence, taking a dig at the Multan Stadium's pitch, former English cricketer Nasser Hossain said during live commentary, "I don't think there can be a flatter pitch than in Pakistan anywhere else in the world." This isn't the first time someone criticized the pitch in Pakistan. Kevin Pietersen and Michael Vaughan have already criticized the flat pitch and said that there is no room for bowlers to show their skills.

Joe Root became the highest run-scorer of England in Test cricket

England's top-order batter, Joe Root, scored a blistering century against Pakistan, and with that, he went on to overtake Alastair Cook as England's highest run-scorer in Test cricket. Now, Root is leading the list for England, but in overall calculations, he's still in the fifth position, with just 815 runs away from Rahul Dravid.

Root was 71 runs away from surpassing Cook, who scored 12,472 in his Test career. Previously, in the Sri Lanka series, Root crossed Cook to score the highest number of centuries by an Englishman. It looks like Root will overtake Sachin Tendulkar to become the highest run-scorer in a Test match, as he is some 3000-odd runs away from him.
