India is all set to kick off the domestic season with the start of the Duleep Trophy on September 5. The red-ball tournament will feature some of the international stars and emerging talents across the country. It will also play a crucial role in team selection for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

The Bangla Tigers tour India for two Tests and three T20Is starting on September 19. Ahead of the crucial red-ball series, star Gujarat Titans spinner R Sai Kishore made a bold claim in a message to the national team selectors. Sai Kishore has recently recovered from an injury sustained during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

The Tamil Nadu cricketer is back with a successful campaign in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). He is looking forward to another fruitful outing in the Duleep Trophy and made a bold statement in an interview that he is one of the best spinners in the country while expressing his eagerness to represent the country in Tests.

“I feel so confident because I have never trained in the block I have now. Maybe before getting into the IPL, I would have trained like this. Waking up at 4 am, training and then bowling. I haven't put in as many hours as I have this pre-season in the past four years. During the IPL, you don't get time, you focus on recovery. After the TNPL, I had a 15-20 day break, and used it to the best,” stated Kishore, as quoted by The New Indian Express.

Put me in a Test match, I am ready: Sai Kishore

Sai Kishore has been included in Team B of the Duleep Trophy along with fellow spinners Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and Rahul Chahar. He is excited to play alongside Ravindra Jadeja in Red Ball Cricket.

“I feel I am one of the best spinners in the country. Put me in a Test match, I am ready. So, I am not worried too much. Jadeja is there, I have never played alongside him. I have been with him in CSK, but never played together in red-ball format. So, it will be a good learning experience in terms of what he does. In saying that, I feel confident. So, I am ready more than ever,” the 27-year-old added.
