2022 IPL winners Gujarat Titans shocked the cricket fans on Friday with an announcement that they are ready to explore sales of massive stakes in the team. According to a report carried by the Economic Times, it has come to light that CVC Capital is set to sell a major stake in the team and will retain a bit part stake ahead of the new season.

Gautam Adani and yet another group have already shown interest in acquiring a stake in the team. As per reports, the current valuation of Gujarat Titans is well above 1 Billion Dollars.

CVC Capital picked up Gujarat Titans in 2022 when Gujarat and Lucknow were named as the two new teams. Their first pick was Hardik Pandya while Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan were their other two choices. Having won the IPL in 2022, Gujarat reached the finals in 2023 before losing to Chennai Super Kings.

Hardik Pandya’s move to Mumbai Indians and the elevation of Shubman Gill to captaincy saw a rocky 2024 IPL season. Gujarat Titans failed to make it to the playoff places despite a late push at the backend of the campaign.

Massive changes in store for Gujarat Titans

One unnamed source while speaking to the Economic Times revealed, “Having missed out on the opportunity to own IPL's Ahmedabad franchise in 2021, both Adani and Torrent are vying aggressively to buy a majority stake in Gujarat Titans. For CVC, it's a great opportunity to monetise its stake in the franchise.”

Yet another source while speaking to Economic Times said, “IPL franchises have been attracting a lot of investor attention since the league has established itself as an attractive asset with solid cash flows.”

Arvinder Singh who happens to be the COO of the team had in an earlier interview with the media said, “Attain profitability in the next media rights cycle. Even the original ten franchisees took four to five years before they turned profitable. We are confident that not only will we turn profitable, but our brand value will also increase exponentially.”

IPL 2025 is set to witness a mega auction and there is a chance that every team could wear a different look. Gujarat Titans and its fans will be waiting with bated breath regarding the next move from the franchise ahead of the massive season.
