Bangladeshi pacer Hasan Mahmud recorded his 2nd successive fifer in Test cricket. The right-arm pacer also became the first Bangladeshi bowler to pick a fifer in India. That effort saw India being bowled out for 376 just after the 1st drinks break on the second day.

Hasan had taken four wickets on the opening day of the Chennai Test. His first wicket was that of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for 6. The next victim was Shubman Gill who was caught down the leg-side for a duck. The biggest wicket was that of Virat Kohli who flashed a wide delivery to be caught by Litton Das for 6.

Rishabh Pant was batting well on 39 when he edged behind Litton Das to give him his 4th wicket. The right-arm pacer had to toil the rest of the day to get his 5th without much success. All the persistence finally paid off when the young pacer got the wicket of Jasprit Bumrah for 7 to make history.

Hasan Mahmud: Star in the making for Bangladesh

24-year-old Hasan Mahmud is just playing his 3rd Test match after making his debut against Sri Lanka earlier this year. In his debut game, he picked up 2 wickets in the first innings followed by a four-wicket haul in the second.

The biggest moment for the young pacer came during the tour of Pakistan. After picking 3 wickets in his first three innings the youngster was under pressure. The 2nd innings of the 2nd Test in Rawalpindi changed everything.

Pakistan began their 2nd innings with a lead of 12 runs. The young pacer dismissed Abdullah Shafique and Khurram Shahzad to give Bangladesh a decent chance. On the final day of the game, the 24-year-old got the wicket of Mohammad Rizwan for 43. The fifer arrived when he dismissed Mohammad Ali and Mir Hamza to help Bangladesh win the game.

So far Mahmud has also played 22 ODI matches and picked 30 wickets with a best of 5/32. In 18 T20I matches, the young pacer has picked 18 wickets with a best of 3/47 and an economy rate of 7.48 runs per over.
