'His character is different' - Former Sri Lanka player talks highly of MS Dhoni ahead of IPL 2025

MS Dhoni is known for his calm nature and super cool attitude while leading the team. His former CSK teammate and Sri Lanka's former cricketer, Thisara Perera, praised the cricketer for keeping the atmosphere of the team light throughout the IPL season. He even went on to say that Dhoni's character is quite different, and he loves helping people. 

"Dhoni's character is different. When I went to Chennai Super Kings for the first time, there was a meeting on the first day. He said, 'You guys are very well prepared. That's why we selected you guys. So we don't need any meeting. This is the first and last.' He said like that. When I came to IPL, I thought there will be meetings every day, but in CSK, there was not any big team meeting. It changed the cricket culture of my life," said Thisara Perera. 

MS Dhoni will feature in the 18th season of the IPL and will play for CSK. This time, he wouldn't be the captain as he has handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad. Under Gaikwad's captaincy, CSK finished in the 5th position in the points table. 

His room's door is open: Thisara Perera

Former Sri Lanka cricketer Thisara Perera also spoke about Dhoni's habit of keeping his room door open for anyone to come in and talk to him. These are a few qualities of Dhoni which keep him a step ahead of the other players. 

"One thing I would like to say that Mahi always keeps his room door open. It does not matter if he is sleeping. His room's door is open. I was staying opposite to his room, so I could see. There was just a double lock. I saw everyone is coming and going. He is a really good human being and good captain," added Thisara Perera.
