Indian cricket star Rishabh Pant made a terrific comeback to Test cricket in Chennai. The 26-year-old scored a century in the 2nd innings to help his side post a huge total on the board. Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram lauded the Indian star for his efforts and his heroic comeback after his horrible accident.

Wasim Akram while speaking to the media said “Look at Pant’s performance, the miracle that he has performed by showing he is superhuman by returning from his tragedy”

Rishabh Pant had played Test cricket after over 600 days with his last game coming in late 2022 against Bangladesh. In the 2nd innings, the 26-year-old scored 109 runs to record his 6th Test ton.

Wasim Akram reveals how he was worried after hearing about Pant’s accident

During his chat with the media, the former Pakistan star revealed his reaction after learning about Pant’s accident. “The way his accident happened, we were all worried in Pakistan, I was worried and tweeted about him,"

Wasim Akram also went on to say “The way he used to play in Test cricket, the way he performed in Australia with the century then. The way he batted against England, playing a reverse sweep against James Anderson in Test cricket, even Pat Cummins, he is special”

The former left-arm pacer also spoke highly about Pant’s mental strength to ensure his comeback. “Especially what he has been through in that horrific accident, coming back from that, how mentally strong must that boy be? That’s a story to be told for generations and generations, in my opinion, to motivate young people of the world. You can come back the way Pant did”

Australian skipper Pat Cummins while speaking to Star Sports said that they have to find a way to keep Pant ‘Quiet’. “I think those guys, you know that they are going to be aggressive, take the game on. Like Rishabh Pant might play a reverse slap and it is an incredible shot and that's just part of who he is," said Cummins.

The Aussie skipper also said, “He's someone that has a big influence in a couple of series and we have go to try and keep him quiet”. Rishabh Pant first toured Australia in 2018 and had verbal battles with Tim Paine. His biggest moment came in Sydney where he scored 159 not out. The left-handed batter also scored a memorable fifty to help India win the Gabba Test in 2021.
