Amidst the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, head coach Gautam Gambhir has returned to India due to 'personal reasons'. As per reports, he informed the BCCI regarding his travel and also mentioned that he would be back before the Adelaide Test match. India won the first Test match against Australia on November 25 by 295 runs. Under Jasprit Bumrah, this performance from all players wasn't much anticipated, especially after the New Zealand series.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Viral Kohli slammed two beautiful centuries, scoring 161 and 100, respectively. With their help, India took a lead of 533 runs and Australia had to chase this mammoth total. Winning the game wasn't easy for Australia but Travis Head tried his best to get the team as far as possible. He scored 89 runs before Bumrah dismissed him and sent him off with an aggressive reaction.
The Australian team didn't imagine losing a game to India who had a terrible series before coming here. The entire team was at fault for not performing well collectively. The pitch changed on the second day, favouring more towards the batters. That was a setback for the pace bowlers. However, Cummings and Co. tried their best to instigate the batters and dismissed them but failed massively.
We need Virat Kohli: Jasprit Bumrah
Virat Kohli is often criticized for his failed performances for a long time now. However, he has always destroyed his haters with his solid comebacks in the game. Kohli hit his 81st international ton, for which the entire country was waiting. After his terrific performance, captain Bumrah praised him and said, 'he doesn't need us, we need Kohli'.
"I have said this before that Virat Kohli doesn't need us, it is we who need Virat Kohli. He is an experienced player, his 4th or 5th tour, so he knows best what his batting and calibre is like. Sometimes when you have a career this long and you play in so many tough scenarios that he has played in, performing in every match becomes a bit difficult. But he was always looking in great space in this match," Bumrah said during the post-match press conference.
