'He would be the apprentice to captain Rohit Sharma' - Former Indian fielding coach R Sridhar names his captaincy candidate for all formats

Shubman Gill has become the white-ball vice-captain of India after winning the Zimbabwe series 4-1. Many critics claim Gill will be the next captain of India in all formats given his consistent performances. Amidst this, India's former fielding coach R Sridhar has spoken about Shubman Gill being an all-format team and will take on the captaincy after Rohit Sharma in the upcoming time. 

"On current form and going back to the potential they showed in the India-England Test series and even in the ODI games, I think these two are nailing their position in two formats, that is T20Is and Tests. Shubman Gill is an all-format player and he would be the apprentice to captain Rohit Sharma in Tests and ODIs. I am sure India will see him as the captain post-2027 World Cup in all formats," said R Sridhar.

The Sri Lanka series hasn't been going well for Gill since he failed to fire up in ODIs and T20Is. Now is the time for him to show that he's the next captaincy contender, or else people will start questioning him for his performance. The selectors rested some well-deserving players in the Sri Lanka series, so the selected players will have to perform well. 

India to play for pride in 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka

The Indian Cricket team lost their 2nd ODI game against Sri Lanka and now are on the verge of losing the series. India is down by one game, and there is one last game left for the team to win and draw the series. If India loses the 3rd ODI, Sri Lanka will create history after 27 years. 

The Island nation will win a bilateral series against India on their home ground after 27 years, which is a considerable achievement. They can win the game since their bowling attack is strong and skilled. Moreover, the fielding of both teams has been brilliant, so now they have to concentrate on their batting.
