Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy had been a sensation during the IPL 2024. The kind of balance SRH had in the middle-overs was all because of him. He was the team's backbone and provided some crucial breakthroughs with his medium-pace bowling. While talking to News18 CricketNext, Nitish revealed about the times when his father was criticized for supporting him throughout his cricket journey.

"Amid all the criticism, my father somehow believed that my son is going to make big. People who backbit about him would now call my father to praise me or would invite me and my father for dinner. You can see the progress and all. I’m so happy that my father is also getting back his lost respect," said Nitish Reddy.

The 20-year-old had a brilliant tournament, which changed people's perspective towards him. As per Nitish, now people call his father and extend their love and support towards them. His performance in the IPL 2024 was a huge reason behind his maiden India call-up for the Zimbabwe series. However, he couldn't play due to injury.

I don’t want to demoralize myself: Nitish Reddy

A sports career is something that is quite unpredictable. At one moment, people will be fit and fine, and in the next moment, they'll be injured and out of the team. The same thing happened to Nistish Reddy when he was selected in India's squad for the Zimbabwe series. However, the player keeps up his positive spirit and aims at making a comeback in the upcoming series.

“Unfortunately, because of this injury, I’m not a part of this Zimbabwe tour. But it’s a part of an athlete’s life. You have to accept whatever happens. If you ask me, this is not the point where I can stop. There are a lot of matches as well coming. I want to focus. I don’t want to demoralize myself. I want to focus on the future. What happened has happened. We can’t change it, right?” said Nitish Reddy while talking to News18 CricketNext.
