Sam Konstas has surprised the world with his batting against Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth Test match against India. Playing his debut game, the 19-year-old played consecutive reverse scoops against Bumrah, who is currently the best bowler in the world. The confidence with which the player faced him showed how mentally prepared he was to face the bowler.
Speaking about the newcomer and his batting approach, former India player Irfan Pathan made a bold statement on Konstas, calling his batting 'borderline stupidity.' While the statement seemed a bit harsh, Pathan also mentioned that Australia needed a batter like him to tackle Bumrah.
What I’m seeing with Sam Konstas is fearlessness & borderline stupidity. But that’s what Australia wanted. Wanted some one to face Jasprit Bumrah in different way.

"What I’m seeing with Sam Konstas is fearlessness & borderline stupidity. But that’s what Australia wanted. Wanted someone to face Jasprit Bumrah in a different way," tweeted Irfan Pathan.
Konstas scored 60 runs in 65 balls, including six boundaries and two sixes. It was Ravindra Jadeja who dismissed the batter in the 19.2 overs of the game. Jadeja was elated after taking the wicket, as he was well aware of its worth. Konstas became the first player to hit Bumrah a six after 4483 balls in red-ball cricket. He went after the bowler aggressively, making his debut even more exciting.
Whatever (happens) on the field, stays on the field: Sam Konstas
During the drinks break of the Boxing Day Test match, Sam Konstas was asked about his performance while he was batting on an unbeaten 56 runs. The player showed his excitement and was pretty happy with the crowd. It was a fully packed stadium, which encouraged the player even more on his debut.
"It’s quite surreal, looking at the turnout. When the ball was coming down, I looked to keep targeting (Bumrah) … hopefully he might come back on, but we’ll see what happens. Whatever (happens) on the field, stays on the field. I love competing, and it doesn’t get any better for a debut with this packed stadium," said Konstas on a spider-cam interview.
