Former India batter Aakash Chopra has come up with a strong opinion while speaking about the omission of Sarfaraz Khan from the India squad for the upcoming high-octane five-match Test series against England. However, he impressed everyone while playing for India A against England Lions, scoring 92 runs.

Notably, the new-look India under the captaincy of newly-appointed skipper Shubman Gill will face the Ben Stokes-led England in the five-match Test series. Meanwhile, there was also a discussion about Sarfaraz Khan’s omission from the squad and the inclusion of Karun Nair.

He hasn't failed in England – Sarfaraz Khan

In the same vein, former India batter and currently a commentator, Aakash Chopra, also joined the bandwagon and spoke about the decision of selectors to ignore Sarfaraz Khan from the Indian squad despite brilliant performances in the recent past.

“Sarfaraz Khan hasn't done anything wrong thus far. In fact, he scored 90-plus in the one match he played. He couldn't score a hundred, but he scored runs. After that, you didn't play him in the next match, and he is not part of the Test team,” said Aakash Chopra in a video on his YouTube channel.

“He hasn't failed in England, Australia and South Africa thus far, but you haven't given him a chance. It is not a good story. I can understand if you don't have confidence in his technique or playing style, that he might not be able to score runs there, then just take a call. Then don't send him with India A also,” he added later.

Sarfaraz Khan has amazed everyone in his brief Test career. He has scored 371 runs in 11 innings, with a decent batting average of 37.10, hitting a century and three half-centuries. Besides that, he also has an impressive record in the First-Class record, scoring 4685 runs in 83 innings, with an outstanding average of 65.98, hitting 16 centuries and 15 half-centuries.
