Rinku Singh's exclusion from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad has invited much criticism against the Board and the selectors considering his talent. This news has shattered not only the entire nation but also the players. Even though Rinku hasn't said anything on social media, his father spoke to Bharat 24, where he opened up about how broken the batter was when he gave the news to his mother.

"We had a lot of hope that he will be named in the squad. We had brought sweets and crackers as well as we felt he will be a part of the eleven. Uska to dil toota hai aisi baat nai hai (it is not that he is heartbroken). He spoke to his mother and said that while he is not named in the 15, he is in the 18 and is going (to the T20 World Cup)," said Rinku's father, Khanchandra Singh to News24.

Despite scoring runs and winning matches for the team consecutively, it's unclear why Rinku was excluded from the 15-member squad and was kept as a stand-by player. Although the selectors haven't explained their bold move, the entire cricketing fraternity is demanding to know the reasons behind this move.

'Quality should come before quantity ...' - Former India batter Ambati Rayadu speaks in favour of Rinku Singh

While the entire country is taken aback by the exclusion of Rinku Singh from the T20 World Cup squad, most of the former cricketers have spoken in favour of the star batter. Rinku's growth in cricket was quite visible when he played match-winning knocks for the country and undoubtedly deserved a place in the 15-member squad.

"Rinku Singh’s omission clearly indicates stats rule over cricketing sense.. who in this selected Indian has been walking out in the 16th and 17th over in a t20 game in the last 2 years and playing fluently with a high strike rate and can win a game except Ravindra Jadeja.. he is a big miss.. quality should come before quantity and most importantly cricketing ability should come before likability on Instagram," tweeted Rayadu.
