On Tuesday, April 30, selectors revealed the 15-person squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, where they excluded the star batter, Rinku Singh. His exclusion from the team for the forthcoming tournament in the West Indies and the USA has angered former Indian batsman Kris Srikkanth and many other cricket experts.

"He has played match-winning knocks in South Africa. Remember the game against Afghanistan in which Rohit scored a hundred? India were 22 for 4, from there, they scored 212. Why do you need 4 spinners? All of them have to go? You have made the selection to please a few people and you have made Rinku Singh a scapegoat," said Srikkanth on his YouTube channel.

Several fans and experts were taken aback by Rinku's absence since no explanation was given. The 26-year-old appeared to have cemented himself as India's finisher in Twenty20 Internationals throughout his brief international career, averaging 89 with a strike rate of 176.23 in 15 games.

'He should have been there, even if that meant you had to drop Yashasvi Jaiswal...' - Kris Srikkanth's bold statement

Kris Srikkanth and several other cricket experts are not happy with Rinku Singh's exclusion. Rinku has grabbed every opportunity he got and made the most out of it when he was a part of the Indian team. Now, excluding him from the team seems quite unfair and everything comes down to just one question, is performing in the IPL enough?

"He has performed in each and every opportunity he has got. How can you drop Rinku Singh? You drop anyone else, it doesn't matter. In my view, Rinku Singh should have been there, even if that meant you had to drop Yashasvi Jaiswal," added Kris Srikkanth.
