Hardik Pandya leaves fans guessing with cryptic story on Instagram ahead of IPL 2025 retentions

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya set tongues wagging after he posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story. The 31-year-old wrote, “I’m going to announce something big soon. Will let y’all know in some time”. The moment this message was passed, fans began speculating and debating what the message could be about. 

With the IPL 2025 retention deadline day close, is Pandya going to announce something regarding his future with Mumbai Indians? Or is the Indian star ready to make himself available for the Border Gavaskar Test series? Fans are also speculating if it is to do something with the cricketer’s personal life. 

Hardik Pandya was last seen for India during the T20I series against Bangladesh. The 31-year-old played a key role with the bat and ball as India won the series 3-0. Pandya will next be seen playing for India in the 4-match T20I series against South Africa in November. 

Mumbai Indians set for huge decisions in days to come

Five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians will have their hands full as they get set to announce their retained players list. According to reports, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya are set to be retained. It was initially believed that Rohit was angling a move away from the franchise. 

Mark Boucher’s sacking and Mahela Jayawardene’s re-appointment seem to have worked in Rohit Sharma’s favour. There will also be a huge decision that needs to be made about the other two retentions. There is going to be a huge toss-up between Tilak Varma and Ishan Kishan. As far as the uncapped player, there are strong reports that Nehal Wadhera could be retained. 

Hardik Pandya returned to Mumbai Indians last season after two years with Gujarat Titans. The Baroda-based star led the Titans to the IPL title win in 2022 and reached the finals in 2023. Once he returned to MI, Pandya was given the captaincy and Rohit Sharma’s removal caused anger in the fan base. Mumbai endured a poor season as they finished tenth in the table with just four wins to show for their efforts.
