The Indian Cricket team is one of the most popular teams, who have been seen performing well in the international format with a rich history. There are some phenomenal players as well with great achievements by the 'Men in Blue', which has made us proud as a cricketing nation. It is going to be interesting to look at our team's performance in the ongoing T20I cricket.
Undoubtedly, we are proud of the players and how they perform on the field, but we have to consider the men behind the scenes, especially the Head Coach. The man who has held that position so far has been Rahul Dravid. He has taken up the role of Mr Dependable, where he has coached the team to 2 ICC trophy finals. He has had a great few seasons coaching the team, but it turns out that his contract is about to be terminated and there is a need for a replacement.

Gambhir is sole applicant for the mix
It turns out that the board has already started finding a replacement for the position, and this time they have had one applicant in the form of Gautam Gambhir, who is to be interviewed for the mix. Gambhir is set to be interviewed for the position to determine whether he will replace Dravid as the coach. Gambhir has not only impressed us on the field, but off the field as well where he had taken mentorship roles for both Lucknow SuperGiants and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and has done a great job. This would be a great opportunity for the two-time World champion as well.
There is no doubt that it is a huge responsibility for any individual and Gambhir has already shown some glimpses of being a great coach. The 42-year-old has immense knowledge about the game and was one of the most aggressive personalities to ever come across. It will also be interesting to see what kind of dynamic he will share with the team when he finally gets the role.
