After the conclusion of the Delhi Test 2025 between India and the West Indies, Gautam Gambhir was asked his opinion on the trolling Harshit Rana has been receiving from the fans on social media. The Indian Head Coach felt it was shameful for people to target a 23-year-old personally.

Gambhir claimed Rana isn't an influential person. He said that Raina's father is not an influential person to get his son into the team. The Indian Coach felt it's not right on the part of the trollers to impact Rana's confidence by targeting him for the mistakes he never committed.

"It's a little shameful that you are targeting a 23 year old personally - Harshit’s father is not an ex chairman. It is not fair that you target an individual. Social media trolling is just not right and imagine the mindset," said Gambhir during the Post-Match Conference after the Delhi Test.

"Target me, leave that kid alone," - Gautam Gambhir to the trollers

Gambhir added that the selection in the Indian team is possible only through merit and caliber. He noted how every individual wants to say things to the cricketers to get results out of them. He did not want people to comment ill on social media. Gambhir asked Rana's critics to let him alone to focus on his cricket and target him instead.

"Anyone's kid will play cricket - Every one has us moral responsibility to make sure India cricket does well. Don’t say anything to run your YouTube channel - if you want, then target me, I can handle it but leave that Kid alone & it's same for all the young stars," Gambhir added in the Press Conference.
