Indian Cricket coach Gautam Gambhir was a busy man in Chennai ahead of the 1st Test versus Bangladesh. The former Indian opening batter turned coach was seen working extensively with young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal. The Indian Express put out a report where they stated the youngster was struggling against Jasprit Bumrah.

According to reports by the Indian Express, Jasprit Bumrah comprehensively bowled Jaiswal. Not just once, the ace Indian pacer troubled Jaiswal on many occasions. Apart from Bumrah even the pacer Akash Deep had Jaiswal in trouble. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli then was seen having a chat with the Indian opener.

In the same report by Indian Express, Jaiswal was also troubled by Mohammed Siraj and Yudhivir Singh Charak. Despite conversation and inputs given by Kohli, the young batter seemed to have issues. That’s when Gautam Gambhir came into the fray and took Jaiswal away for a short session. India’s coach gave him a pointers and how to get to the line of the ball.

Rohit Sharma throws light on Gautam Gambhir’s coaching style

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was under the microscope as he addressed the press on Tuesday. The 37-year-old was asked to speak on a variety of topics and one of them was the coaching style of Gautam Gambhir.

When asked to compare the styles of Gambhir to his predecessor  Rahul Dravid, Indian skipper said, “Obviously Rahul bhai, Vikram Rathour and Paras Mhambrey were a different team, and it is only acceptable that the new support staff will bring a different perspective. The new coaching staff has a different style, but there is no problem. Good understanding is important, and I have that with Gambhir."

The media also asked about KL Rahul’s place in the playing XI. Rohit Sharma said, “There are a handful of people in world cricket who had a smooth ride. A handful of cricketers had no issues all their life, it was all good. Everyone has an up-and-down career.”

Rohit Sharma also added, “Best thing to do is to understand yourself, expectations from yourself, and what’s needed for the team. The kind of quality KL Rahul has, everybody knows. The message to him from our side was we want him to play all the game and bring the best out of him."
