While the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is coming to an end and the ICCT20 World Cup 2024 fever will take on the world soon, the debate of Virat Kohli's batting order in the World Cup is still trending. With Yashasvi Jaiswal in the squad, it seems like the selectors have a fair idea in their minds. However, the whole world wants to see Kohli open alongside Rohit Sharma and so does the former Australia star batter Ricky Ponting.
"They (selectors) have still got a decision to make because (Yashasvi) Jaiswal is in that squad and one thing they haven't got a lot in their team is left-hand batters. So they've got a decision to make with Jaiswal, but I'm pretty sure that they'll go with Kohli and Rohit Sharma (as openers)," said Ricky Ponting.
While different people have different perspectives, Jaiswal's performance has been good throughout the entire year and hence, he'll be the one who'll get a chance to open with Rohit Sharma. Moreover, Kohli has always played in the number three position and it seems like it might work out in favour of the team.

Virat Kohli is just 29 away from reaching 8000 runs in IPL history, which is the most by any player. The dedication with which he plays the tournament makes him an entirely different person. He has played wonderfully against most of the bowlers in the world and marked his existence in the tournament quite efficiently. In this ongoing season, Kohli has scored 708 runs in 14 matches and is also the Orange Cap holder.
Now that RCB is in the playoffs and will be playing the eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kohli will be pumped up to score and help the team win the match. Considering his form and performance, it seems like this might be RCB's year. However, anything can happen during the match and the viewers will have to wait for it.
