'Forced to take legal action' - Amit Mishra slams media for circulating fake news

Former cricket player Amit Mishra has denied reports in the media that his wife has accused him and his family of dowry harassment and domestic violence.

According to media sources, Amit Mishra, an Indian cricket player, has disputed that his wife has accused him and his family of domestic abuse and dowry harassment.  According to several media sites, Mishra's wife has filed a case demanding Rs 1 crore in compensation, claiming that the cricketer's family also sought Rs 10 lakh and a car at their wedding.

Amit Mishra, who has represented India in 22 Test matches, 36 ODIs, and 10 T20Is, has vowed to sue the offending media for using his name and picture in "unrelated stories." He took to Twitter on known as X, to express his thoughts on the situation. “I’m extremely disappointed by what’s being circulated in the media. I’ve always respected the press, but while the news itself may be accurate, the photograph used is mine, which is completely incorrect. Using my image for unrelated stories must stop immediately, or I will be forced to take legal action,” Amit Mishra wrote on X.

Amit Mishra's cricketing journey 

Since making his debut for India in 2003, the 42-year-old has amassed 156 wickets in international cricket in addition to four half-centuries. He represented Haryana and Chandigarh in domestic cricket. In addition, he played for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, among other franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL).  

The IPL 2024 season marked his final competitive cricket appearance, as he played just one match for the Rajasthan Royals against the Lucknow Super Giants.  In his two overs, he recorded the figures of 1-20 after replacing Riyan Parag as an impact replacement.

He took 174 wickets in 162 games at an economy rate of 7.37.  During his time in the IPL, Mishra achieved three hat-tricks, which is the most in the history of the T20 tournament. With three hat-tricks in his IPL career, Mishra holds the record for most in the T20 tournament's history.  His four four-wicket hauls include one five-wicket haul.
