After smashing 266 runs in the first innings, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) went on to beat the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 67 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Pat Cummins-led side is in tremendous form as they score 250+ for the third time in the tournament. Moreover, the batters are striking the ball well which has become an added advantage for the team.

On winning the toss, DC opted to bowl first, which was their first mistake in the match. The SRH openers, Abhishek Sharma (46) and Travis Head (89) scored 125 runs in the powerplay, which became the highest score ever. Post that, SRH lost four wickets at quick intervals, but DC bowlers couldn't stop them from reaching a huge target of 266 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed and Nitish Reddy created havoc towards the end of the innings as they scored 59 and 37 balls, respectively. Despite Kuldeep Yadav's four wickets, DC bowlers couldn't do much in the game.

When DC came into bat in the 2nd innings, both the openers were dismissed early, which broke the hopes of the DC fans. After their departure, Jake Fraser-McGurk (65) and Abhishek Porel (42) helped stabilize the team's innings. However, the lack of team support resulted in DC losing 67 runs. T. Natarajan was SRH's prime bowler, who claimed four wickets by giving away 19 runs.

'Need to keep things simple...' - SRH opener Travis Head's mantra during IPL 2024

Travis Head, who received the Player of the Match award for his unbeaten 89 runs off 32 balls, shared his mantra of IPL 2024. While talking at the post-match presentation, Head spoke about how the team likes to keep it simple and plays one game at a time, which helped them a lot during the tournament.

"It's nice, we are on a roll. The boys are playing well, very enjoyable. Just tried to stay relaxed and hit the ball. Need to keep things simple, and react to the balls. Very pleased to continue with the same form," said Head at the post-match presentation.
