'Even Dinesh Karthik knew it was out' - Fans react to veteran RCB batter's controversial LBW in RR vs RCB eliminator

The controversial decision of the third umpire on Dinesh Karthik’s LBW in the ongoing RR vs RCB drew a lot of reactions on social media. The incident happened on the 3rd ball of the 15th over in the first innings when RCB lost the wicket of star middle-order batter Rajat Patidar.

The field umpire declared Karthik ‘out’ on an LBW appeal from RR players but the third umpire overturned the decision later considering the spike of the ball touching the bat; however, it was revealed later that the ball didn’t touch the bat it was the spike of bat’s touch with the pad.

However, Dinesh Karthik couldn’t capitalize on this life given by the third umpire and got dismissed at the individual score of just 11 runs off 13 balls, with one four.

Both teams putting it all in do-or--die game

Speaking of the action of the ongoing eliminator between RR and RCB, the latter were asked to bat first by toss-winning RR skipper Sanju Samson. RCB posted a total of 172 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Mahipal Lomror scored 33, 34, and 32 runs off 24, 22, and 17 balls, respectively.

RR pacer Avesh Khan scalped 3 wickets for his side in the first innings, alongside two wickets bagged by the veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Besides these two, Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, and Yuzvendra Chahal picked one wicket each.

While chasing the target, RR had scored 81 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 9.2 overs in the second innings while chasing the target of 173 runs. Lockie Ferguson and Cameron Green scalped one wicket each.

Notably, the losing team today will be eliminated from the tournament while winning team will face SRH in the second qualifier to meet the Kolkata Knight Riders in the summit clash of the tournament.
