Royal Challengers Bengaluru went to the Eden Gardens stadium to take on the home team Kolkata Knight Riders in the first game of the double-header on Sunday. Faf Du Plessis won the toss and chose to bowl first on a hot day in Kolkata

Cameron Green who came into the team for the game showed why he is regarded as one of the best young talents. Angkrish Raghuvanshi tried to flick Yash Dayal over the mid-wicket boundary. The ball looked like going for a boundary only for Cameron Green to jump up and take a one-handed catch like a football goalkeeper.

Faf Du Plessis and his side came into the game sitting 10th in the IPL points table. A win will keep their chances for a likely fight for a spot in the top four spot. Kolkata Knight Riders who are playing 7th game of the season will want to win to get back their second spot. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s win over Delhi Capitals saw them surpass KKR in the league table.

Kolkata Knight Riders lose three early wickets

Put into bat first, Phil Salt was quick off the block as he smashed 12 runs off the first over. The next over Yash Dayal bowled a searing Yorker to Sunil Narine to strike the West Indian on his toe.

The biggest over was yet to come and it came when Phil Salt was facing Lockie Ferguson in the 4th over of the game. The England wicketkeeper and batter hit four boundaries and two sixes to score 28 runs off the 4th over to KKR past fifty runs.

Mohammed Siraj gave the visitors their first wicket when he had Phil Salt caught by Rajat Patidar. The KKR opener scored 48 runs from just 14 balls with 7 fours and three sixes in his inning.

Sunil Narine who had scored a century in the last game was bothered by the blow to his leg. The left-handed batter could only muster 10 runs from 15 balls before he was caught by Virat Kohli off Yash Dayal.

Once Angkrish Raghuvanshi fell for 3, Shreyas Iyer walked in to join Venkatesh Iyer. The two batters added 22 runs in 24 balls before Venkatesh Iyer was out for 16. Cameron Green who was hit for a first ball four saw Venkatesh Iyer flick a ball straight into the hands of Mahipal Lomror to deal KKR a huge blow inside the 10th over.
