England's first assignment after the ODI WC 2023 was the series against the West Indies in their backyard, which they lost 1-2. In September 2024, England and Australia played an ODI series of five matches. The 2019 World Cup winners lost it 2-3 at home.

In October and November 2024, England toured the West Indies yet again for a limited overs series. England lost the ODI series 1-2 and failed for the second consecutive time in the Carribean Islands. Before the Champions Trophy 2025, England toured India for an ODI series of three matches, losing all of them to suffer a whitewash.

England's downfall in ODIs 

In the Champions Trophy, the 2013 runner-ups lost all of their three matches against Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan, respectively. England later faced the challenge of the West Indies at home and won it 3-0, which is their only achievement in the format since the ODI World Cup 2023.
