England Super 8 Qualification scenarios: Roadmap for the defending champions in T20 World Cup 2024

The defending champions England have been through a very poor run of form in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Jos Buttler’s men haven’t won any game after playing two matches in the tournament so far. England faced a defeat in one game against Australia and lost the other against Scotland, with only one point to their name.

Now, as the Three Lions are on the verge of an exit from the tournament, still there are some hopes of England’s qualification to the super-8 stage of the tournament, with a finish in the top 2 spots in Group D of the tournament.

England are almost down and out in the tournament without having a single win on their credit in the tournament. With only two matches left in the group stage for England, now they ought to win both the remaining matches against Oman and Namibia, respectively.

Besides that, England will also have to beat Oman and Namibia by heavy margins to ensure their spot in the super-8 stage of the tournament.

If Australia beat Scotland by a heavy margin and won their both remaining matches

Apart from their performance, England’s fate will also depend on the result of the other matches in Group D. Two of the crucial matches for England will be of Australia’s clashes against Namibia and Scotland, respectively.

For England’s qualification in the super-8 stage, they’ll also have to hope that Australia win their remaining matches against Namibia and Scotland in the group stage of the tournament.

Namibia to lose their both remaining matches.

Namibia are also one of the three teams who are superior to England in the points table of Group D. Namibia are also left with their two matches in the group stage. One of them is against England itself.

So, Jos Buttler’s men would be wishing Namibia’s defeat against Australia and later, they’ll also have to defeat Namibia in their last group match.
