West Indies former player Dwayne Bravo is set to replace Gautam Gambhir as Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) mentor in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gambhir left the position to join the Indian Cricket team as the Head Coach. Now, Bravo will try to fill his shoes as KKR did extremely well under Gambhir in the IPL 2024. They went on to lift the trophy after a decade under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer.

KKR took to their social media accounts to inform the world about their new addition to the team. They shared a heartfelt video of Bravo, in which he was seen wearing the franchise cap. After bidding farewell in his cricket career, he looked super excited for his new role.

Bravo played under Knight Riders' franchise in ten seasons of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Moreover, apart from IPL, he will also be incharge of the other leagues where Knight Riders will take part. Hence, it's a good opportunity for the former player and try some new roles and see how they work out for him.

Bravo said: "I’ve been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate."

BCCI to go with five retentions ahead of mega auction: Reports

It's a relief for all the franchises as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) might allow five retentions for the upcoming IPL 2025. As per reports, the Board will likely allow franchises to retain five members from their previous squads ahead of the mega auction, which will help them strengthen their team. Previously, only three retentions were allowed per franchise.

Several franchises like Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will be happy with the decision as they can keep their best players, while other franchises like Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) might not be happy with the decision since they wanted more retentions. Also, the Delhi Capitals owner wanted to leave all the players and buy a new team, so this decision might seem disturbing.
