After their huge loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad, the already miserable season for Delhi Capitals has taken another turn. It has come to light that one of their star players is set to miss the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

Mitchell Marsh is out of the IPL 2024 season due to a hamstring injury. The news was confirmed on Monday to deal a huge blow to Rishabh Pant and his team. Ricky Ponting confirmed the news while speaking to the media ahead of their next game.

For the record, Delhi Capitals are currently 8th in the table with 6 points from 8 games. The IPL 2020 runners-up had lost their previous game to SRH by 67 runs after conceding 266 runs from their 20 overs.

Ricky Ponting the Delhi Capitals coach confirmed that Mitchell Marsh isn’t coming back to the camp. The former Aussie skipper said that the Australian board is monitoring the fitness of the 32-year-old for the T20I World Cup.

According to Ricky Ponting, the call was taken by Cricket Australia to aid Marsh with his recovery. While IPL is certainly out of radar for the Aussie star, Ricky Ponting also revealed that Mitchell Marsh is set to be fit ahead of the T20I World Cup.

Delhi Capitals are set to be busy as they play three games in a space of six days. The next two games for Rishabh Pant and his men will be at home at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Gujarat Titans are set to play on the 24th of April in the massive return fixture.

This will be followed by Mumbai Indians also coming to Delhi to play their return fixture. The third game of the week will see Delhi travelling to Kolkata to take on the Kolkata Knight Riders. The last these two sides had met, KKR had scored the then-second-largest total in the history of IPL.

IPL 2024 has been a disappointing campaign for Delhi Capitals once again. Barring Jake Fraser McGurk none of the other batters could put up any resistance in the game against Hyderabad. If Delhi have to make it to the top 4 they have to win all their games and hope the other results go their way.
