Former Indian star Deep Dasgupta has urged former skipper Virat Kohli to find his ‘Zone’ to get back to form. On Friday, Kohli was out for just five runs after facing 12 balls. Josh Hazlewood got the ball to bounce and Kohli played an awkward looking shot to be caught by Usman Khawaja.

During his chat with leading newspaper Times of India, the former India stumper said, “We have seen him giving his best when things are not going his way. He is in hbat mind space where he wants to prove everyone wrong.”

Deep Dasgupta also said, “Great players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Tiger Woods, or Michael Jordan have thrived to prove their doubters wrong on the field. I hope Virat finds that mental zone as it is needed to score runs in Australia.”

The former India star also backed Kohli to come good. “He didn’t have a good Test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. But he is a great player and knows how to comeback to form. He has a great track record in Australia and he likes batting in this part of the world. The pitches would suit his batting.”

Virat Kohli’s poor form with the bat continues

All eyes were fixed on Virat Kohli when he walked out to bat at the fall of Devdutt Padikkal’s wicket. India’s former skipper played a crispy shot to get off the mark and there were hopes that he will play a huge innings. It was at this same venue that Kohli had scored a century back in 2018 when the two teams played the first ever Test match at this venue.

The year 2024 has been tough for Kohli with just one half-century during the year. The 36-year-old missed the entire series against England to welcome the birth of his 2nd child. Kohli’s only fifty came during the second innings against New Zealand in Bengaluru.

The failure in Perth in the first innings has raised new questions about Kohli’s place in the team. There are already a lot of questions about the future of Indian senior members after the home series loss to New Zealand. In the abscene of Rohit Sharma, the onus was on Kohli to shepherd the batting unit.
