Needing 16 runs from 6 balls, David Miller got a full toss from Hardik Pandya. The left-handed batter saw the ball travel only for Suryakumar Yadav to intercept the ball and take a smart catch. It was the end of the hopes for the Proteas side as they lost the final and saw India lift the title.

Taking to his social media, David Miller wrote “This journey was an incredible one, with highs and lows throughout the entire month. We have endured pain, but I know this team has the resilience and will keep raising the bar”

Suryakumar Yadav recounts the David Miller catch

Noted Indian batter, Suryakumar Yadav became the toast of the nation as he kept his cool and took a key catch. The 33-year-old was in conversation with the reputed newspaper the Indian Express.

While speaking about the catch Yadav said “Rohit Bhai never stands at long-on but that moment he was there. So when the ball was coming, for a second I looked at him and he looked at me. I ran and my aim was to catch the ball.

Had Rohit been closer, I would have thrown the ball towards him. But he was nowhere close. In those four to five seconds, whatever happened, I can't explain."

When asked about to comment on the debate about the catch, SKY said “When I pushed the ball [up and inside the playing area] and took the catch, I knew I hadn't touched the rope, The only thing I was cautious about was that when I pushed the ball back inside, my feet don't touch the rope”

The Indian batter went onto say “I knew it was a fair catch. In hindsight, anything could have happened. If the ball had gone for six, the equation would have been five balls, ten runs. We might have still won, but the margin would have been closer."
