One cricket took to X and wrote, “How Sundar sneaks into the best 15 of India but doesn't get a place in any IPL XI when 10 teams exist is a mystery?” Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai spotted this tweet and replied, “I have been wondering this too” and ended the tweet with a smile emoji.

Washington Sundar made his IPL debut with the Rising Pune Super Giants in 2017. He soon went on to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the next few years. After being released by SRH at the end of the IPL 2024 season, Sundar was picked by Gujarat during the auctions late last year.

PBKS owner praises Shreyas Iyer for his knock

Noted Bollywood actress and owner of Punjab Kings cricket team, Preity Zinta praised skipper Shreyas Iyer’s knock. The 30-year-old was not out on 97 from just 42 balls as he helped his side reach 243 on the board. This was Iyer’s top score in the league overhauling his previous best of 96 runs.

Preity Zinta took to X and wrote, “What an incredible start to this tournament. Some 97’s are better than a hundred. Take a bow @ShreyasIyer15 for showing class, leadership & aggression. Loved how the team played as a unit!”. The veteran actress also praised Vijaykumar Vyshak and rest of PBKS bowlers in her tweet.

Speaking to the host broadcasters at the end of the game, Iyer said, “Getting 97 not out in the opening game of the season for us is the icing on the cake. I got a four the first ball I faced and it got me going.” The 30-year-old also praised Shashank Singh and said “44 runs he scored off 16-17 balls was pretty crucial for the team. We set a benchmark that we had to go for it."
