Shedge was picked by PBKS in the IPL 2025 auctions for INR 30 lakhs. It was a huge moment in the life of the young batter who had been turning heads with his awesome batting in the Syed Mushtaq Ali 2024 Trophy win for Mumbai under Ajinkya Rahane.
The 22-year-old batter first came to the limelight with his 36 not out from just 12 balls in the SMAT 2024 game versus Vidarbha last year. Chasing 222 to win, Mumbai needed 65 runs from 29 balls when Shedge walked in and hit four sixes and a boundary to seal the win for his side. In the final game against Madhya Pradesh, Shedge hit 36 not out from just 15 balls with three fours and three sixes.
Gujarat Titans win the toss and opt to bowl first
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first, citing that dew could play a huge role during the chase. Gujarat have four pacers: Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Prasidh Krishna, and Mohammad Arshad Khan in their XI. The spin department will be headed by R. Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan.
Punjab, on the other hand, have Yuzvendra Chahal as their only spinner. Josh Inglis, who has been in terrific form with the bat, wasn’t part of the playing XI, while Priyansh Arya, who hit six sixes in an over during the Delhi Premier League match, is set to make his debut.
Shreyas Iyer is leading Punjab Kings and is reunited with Ricky Ponting, who is the new coach for PBKS. Glenn Maxwell is back with PBKS having spent a fee season with the team that included the 2014 season where Punjab had reached the finals.
