Australia's star batter David Warner has been an asset to the team for over a decade now. Now that he has retired from international cricket, fans and the team will miss a prolific player like him. He's also the leading run-scorer for Australia in T20Is. Recently, in the T20 World Cup 2024, he surpassed George Bailey, who was present on the ground cheering for his former teammate.

Currently, Bailey is the chair of the Australian men's selection panel, who clearly confirmed that Warner won't be a part of the Australian team for the upcoming Champions Trophy. The Aussies will appoint new players who can take up the team's responsibility in the future.

"I think he's just stirring the pot a bit," Bailey said during the press conference after announcing Australia’s squad for the white-ball tour of the UK. Our understanding is that David's retired and should be commended on what is an incredible career across all three formats. Certainly, our planning is he won't be there in Pakistan," said George Bailey.

Australia's squad released for UK tour

Australia will be travelling to the UK to play a 3-match T20I series against Scotland and a 5-match ODI series against England in September. The Board has released the tour squad, including players like Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matthew Short. Pat Cummins has been rested for the tour, and Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc will join the team during the ODI series.
