Big Bash League (Source-X)
The 2024 season of the Big Bash League is set to begin on the 15th of December with the game between Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars. Brisbane Heat who are the defending champions will kick off their campaign with an away game against the Stars on the 18th of December at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
One of the biggest talking points of this year’s tournament is the fact that some of the top stars will be unavailable. The likes of Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Marnus Labuschagne will be away on international duty.
Most of the matches will be held at a time when the Indian team is in Australia to play the five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy. Explosive player Travis Head too is set to be part of the Test squad that will play the massive series vs India.
Big Bash League set for yet another grand season
Alastair Dobson who happens to be the head of Cricket Australia’s Big Bash League said in a statement “ This is a brilliant schedule for fans, with uninterrupted action every night of the regular season and all the marquee games our fans love”
Mr. Dobson also stated “We also can’t wait to welcome back members of the Australian Test team once again in January, taking advantage of a bigger window following the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series. The shift to an optimised competition length last season, together with the recruitment of world-class players, led to incredible crowds and experiences off the field and cricket on it. We can’t wait to see that growth in BBL14”
