Dinesh Karthik is set to be seen on Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s bench during the IPL 2025 season. The 39-year-old has heaped praise on veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar after singing him for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Kumar parted ways with Sunrisers Hyderabad and has re-joined RCB, where he spent the 2009 season.

One fan posted Karthik speaking to Andy Flower about the veteran Indian pacer. RCB management were worried about Kumar’s fitness, to which Karthik replied, “Just for the record, I am convinced that he is the best bowler India has after Bumrah even today. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the best T20 bowler." A few members were left surprised at the statement made by Karthik, but the 39-year-old stood firm with his thoughts.

Mo Bobat then asked about Rasikh Salam Dar, who was part of the Delhi Capitals for a few seasons. Karthik was heard saying, “Put that Rasikh Salam only on skills." Andy Flower could be heard saying, “The more important skills are in the powerplay and at the death; those are the skills that we are interested in.”

Reason behind Phil Salt’s move to RCB for IPL 2025 revealed

English batter Phil Salt took the world by storm with his terrific batting during the IPL 2024 season for Kolkata. The 28-year-old played a key role in KKR winning their third IPL title. In 2025, the right-handed batter will be playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

RCB put out a video on their social media where the team thought they were seeing Salt’s numbers. “We would want a foreign opener because on the day they get going, they can score a hundred; they can score it in 60.50. or 40 balls, whatever it might be. Players like Jos Buttler and Phil Salt have done this time and again.”

Dinesh Karthik was heard saying, “Among Indian players, I think only Ishan Kishan has done that to a limited degree. We know why we don’t want to go there, because the power isn’t there.”

Apart from Phil Salt and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, RCB have also signed Krunal Pandya and Josh Hazlewood, some of the other stars signed. Virat Kohli is expected to lead the team once again in the coming season. AB De Villiers and R. Ashwin have already indicated the 36-year-old is set to be handed the reins of the team once more.
