Bengal is all set to embark on a new cricketing journey as their franchise league - the Bengal Pro T20 League - kicks off on Tuesday, June 11. Organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), the tournament will run till June 28 and will feature both men's and women's teams.

In a bid to make the inaugural edition a grand affair, the CAB is taking various measures and will see two cricketing legends, Sourav Ganguly and Jhulan Goswami, felicitated. The gesture of paying homage to the ‘Prince of Calcutta’ and the ‘Chakdaha Express’ – two precious gems of Bengal and Indian cricket – is one of the major highlights of the tournament.

The association has announced that a special Toss Coin will be used in the tournament. Women's matches will feature a toss coin with its 'Heads' side consisting of the face of women's cricket legend Goswami. Similarly, the men's matches will see the 'Heads' side featuring Ganguly's face.

Goswami took to his social media handle to thank CAB for the tribute. "What a privilege to be a part of something so meaningful. Thank you, @bengalprot20league @cabcricket, for this heartfelt recognition on the toss coin. Let's make the most out of this amazing tournament," she wrote on her official 'X' (formerly Twitter) handle.

Women's tournament to kick off on June 13

The tournament opener will see Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Akash Deep-led Siliguri Strikers taking on former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary's Harbour Diamonds at the iconic Eden Gardens. Both Goswami and Ganguly are expected to attend the opening ceremony and the match on Tuesday (June 11).

The eight-team franchise league of both men and women will be played simultaneously. The women's tournament will begin on June 13 at the Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus Ground. Each team will play seven group-stage matches, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals. The final will be played on June 28.
