The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have released the dates and the venue for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. The franchise owners will have to travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25 to participate in the mega auction. This is the mega auction where most of the players will be auctioned, and the franchises will have a chance to build their teams.

The Board went through a lot of different venues and finalized Riyadh this time. The IPL franchises have to give their retention list by October 31st, 2024. Based on that, the Board will make a list of players for the mega auction. The purse for the franchises will be INR 120 crores. They can retain mostly five capped players and one uncapped player. Then, a total amount of INR 75 crores will be deducted from the purse.

After that, the franchises can buy players from the rest of the amount. Since it's a mega auction, they can build their team from scratch for the next three years. There are a lot of talks regarding MS Dhoni's participation in the tournament.

We want Dhoni to play for CSK: CEO Kasi Viswanathan

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will definitely retain their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, for the mega auction. But the main doubt is regarding MS Dhoni. As the team and the fans want him to play, the former skipper hasn't given any confirmation on the same. He helped the franchise to reach great heights, and hence, CEO Kasi Viswanathan wants him to stick to the team as long as he can. However, Dhoni left his fans to guess whether he would be back or not.

CSK’s CEO said during the event “We want Dhoni to play for CSK but he hasn’t confirmed it to us yet. Dhoni will inform about his decision before October 31. We hope that he agrees to play”.
