During the third and final ODI in July 2023, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur was involved in a heated exchange with umpire Tanveer Ahmed after being adjudged leg before wicket. The dismissal sparked frustration in Kaur, who slammed her bat into the ground and verbally confronted the umpire. The incident did not end there as Kaur further criticized the officiating in the post-match presentation ceremony.

The BCB's decision to exclude Tanveer Ahmed is reportedly to avoid any potential targeting by the Indian players. An anonymous BCB official stated their concern that "there is a possibility he can again be at the receiving end considering Indian women cricketers might target him." The board prioritizes a neutral and unbiased environment for the upcoming series and aims to protect its umpires from undue pressure.
