Ahead of a high-octane game against the arch-rivals Pakistan India skipper Rohit Sharma addressed the media in a press conference at practice ground in New York. Rohit spoke about various issues including his injury concerns and the opening pair for the crucial game.

Showcasing a warrior-like aura Rohit said that anybody blow comes after the country. He said, "It's tough but that's why I would like to highlight the experience we have. The blows count for nothing. When you play in places like South Africa and Australia, you have to overcome the challenges. The Gabba Test is one big example. We thrive in these difficult moments. It's the World Cup, so nothing can get bigger than this."

It's worth mentioning that Rohit was hit on the shoulder during India’s first outing against Ireland on June 5. A few days later the Indian skipper was struck on his thumbs during a throwdown session. However, soon he adjusted the things and continued his practice session.

Rohit Sharma heaps praise on Kohli and Pant

The Indian skipper further spoke about playing 11 and team combination for the upcoming game. Maintaining his secretive attitude Rohit just said that the opening pair is confirmed and other positions are flexible. He also praised and backed Virat Kohli, who failed in the first game, and Rishabh Pant.

“I don't want to rely on one individual to win us the game. Everyone needs to chip in. He didn't play the Bangladesh game. He didn't have a great outing in the first game, but we all know he brings in a wealth of experience," Rohit told reporters in the pre-match press conference.

He said, “Other than openers, no player's batting position is fixed. We want to be flexible. This is the special nature of T20 cricket – anything can happen. Even in the last T20 World Cup, Pakistan lost to Zimbabwe, but it was eventually Pakistan in the final as well.”

“If the opposition lost the last match, that doesn't mean they will lose again or play badly. We just need to focus on playing good cricket ourselves, and that's what I encourage my team to focus on”, Rohit further added.

Rohit Sharma continues to slam New York Pitch

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has criticized New York's controversial pitch, labelling it as "confusing." He said, "New York is not our home ground. We have played two matches here but we don't have much awareness about its nature. It behaves differently on different days, so even the curator is confused.”

Further speaking about team combination against the arch-rivals who are coming with a shocking loss against hosts USA Rohit said that only the opening position is fixed.

It’s worth noting that the game against Pakistan will be a crucial match for the Indian team as a win here will virtually confirm their place in the Super 8 stage. On the other hand, Pakistan can’t afford to lose the game as it will almost eliminate them from the tournament.
