The final game of the ODI World Cup 2023 is etched in people's lives for multiple reasons. After being unbeaten in the tournament, India went to the finals and later lost the game against Australia, which was a heartbreaking moment for the entire nation. However, the controversy related to the pitch prevailed for a long time. Talking about the pitch, former India batting coach Vikram Rathour said there was no difference in the pitch.

"I’ve heard this story that WC Final pitch was different, which I don't agree with at all. We expected it to get slower, which it didn't. You need a little luck, Australia were luckier than us and played better cricket," said Vikram Rathour as quoted by Sportstar.

India lost the finals, which was completely unexpected, and that left a scar in the hearts of people. However, they did overturn their performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 where they won the finals. Moreover, they were unbeaten throughout the tournament which was the cherry on the cake.

Gautam Gambhir has taken a U-turn: Kris Srikkanth

There have been various theories as to what India's new head coach said. This time, former player Kris Srikkanth talked about how Gambhir became diplomatic and flipped his sentences. There was a time when Gambhir said Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma weren't good players. Now, he went on to say they will be playing the ODI World Cup since they are fit. Pointing out this diplomacy, Srikkanth said 'Gambhir has taken a U-turn'.

"Gautam Gambhir has taken a U-turn. Before the T20 World Cup 2024, he was saying if Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma do not perform, they will not sit in my team. Then he took a U-turn now, saying there is no player like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. After becoming head coach, he said that both have a lot of cricket left and hopefully they will be fit for the 2027 World Cup," said Kris Srikkanth.
