The 33-year-old had hurt his calf during the training session and joined his fellow pacers quite a bit late in the action of the game. However, he could not sustain too long in the field and went out of the ground just after bowling an over.

Furthermore, the reports of his ‘calf scans’ showed that his right calf muscle was strained. In the same line of events, Cricket Australia released an official statement concerning Hazlewood’s injury.

“He is likely to miss the remainder of the Test series. A squad replacement will be made in due course,” read the CA statement.

Josh Hazlewood could bowl only 6 overs in the entire first innings of India; he scalped one wicket, conceding only 22 runs with two maiden overs. He dismissed the big man, former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli.
