The first day of the Kanpur Test was called off early due to rain with Bangladesh on 107/3. Only 35 overs were possible as rains came down just an hour after lunch. Rishabh Pant though was the sole highlight in the post-lunch session for the home team side.

R. Ashwin was bowling to Najmul Shanto from around the wicket. The Bangladeshi skipper played a perfect forward defense to the ball. That’s when Pant could be heard telling the veteran Indian bowler “Ash bhai halka sa thoda aagae daalna padega”

Ashwin for his part paid heed to what his wicketkeeper said and did the same. The very next ball Shanto was hit on the pads as the Indian team went up in huge appeal. The decision came in favor of the bowler to send back Shanto to the hut for 31 runs.

Yuvraj Singh compares Pant with the Aussie legend

Former Indian star Yuvraj Singh praised Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant during his appearance on the Club Prairie Podcast. The former Indian legend said that he saw Pant have the same attributes as former Aussie star Adam Gilchrist.

“Rishabh has a lot of Gilchrist in him as he comes in and changes the game when he walks in at number five and six. Actually, I mention to Pant a lot about how Gilchrist changed the middle order batting in Tests, about what his approach was. He is definitely a match-winner at number five and six for us in Tests” said Yuvraj Singh

It has been a terrific comeback to Test cricket for the 26-year-old who had missed the entire 2023 season. Pant made his return during the first game in Chennai where he scored 39 in the first innings. This was followed by 109 runs in the 2nd innings which was his 6th Test century.

The Indian star was also in the news on Thursday for slamming a fan for posting fake news. According to a fan named Rajiv who had written that Pant had approached RCB with a potential move but that move won't happen because Virat Kohli wasn’t in favor of it. The Indian star slammed the fan and asked him to stop rumor-mongering.
