In the second T20I of the 2025 series against Australia, Abhishek Sharma scored 68(37) and became one of the fewest Indian batters to have scored a fifty in T20Is in Australia. Despite his efforts, the Indian team lost the match comfortably, which was their first defeat at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the 20-over format since 2008.

The Indian team and batters have historically had a good success in T20Is in Australia. Barring the one-off match in 2007, India hasn't lost a series in the 20-over format in Australia since then. Shikhar Dhawan was one of the mainstays in the Indian team before the pandemic across formats. In the T20 format, his best year was in 2018, where he scored over 600 runs a good rate.

In the Australian tour, he batted well and played some fine knocks. In Australia, he has two fifty-plus scores to his name, which is the fifth most for an Indian batter in T20Is.

Suryakumar Yadav (3)

Suryakumar Yadav has been arguably the best T20I batter since the pandemic. The star batter had a blast in the T20 World Cup in 2022, where he scored fifties against South Africa, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands.

In the process, he took the least innings for an Indian batter to score three fifties in T20Is in Australia. He is the joint-second in the list of Indians with most fifties in Australia in the 20-over format.

KL Rahul (3)

KL Rahul was one of the best T20 batters in the world before the pandemic. The star batter was stylish and scored runs at a good rate. In the 2020 tour of Australia, he scored a fifty and registered a couple of fifties in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Rahul hasn't had a great time in T20s in a long time. His last appearance in a T20I was more than three years ago. However, he is the joint-second in the list of Indians with most fifties in Australia in the 20-over format.

Rohit Sharma (3)

Rohit Sharma is the joint-second in the list of Indians with most fifties in Australia in the 20-over format. The former Indian skipper had multiple tours of Australia and had a mixed bag.

In the T20 World Cup 2022, he scored a fifty against the Netherlands. Likewise, in a couple of other instances, he batted well against the home side and scored fifties.

Virat Kohli (9)

Virat Kohli is the undisputed leader in yet another record for India. The 2024 T20 World Cup winner has six more fifties in Australia in T20Is than three of the second best batters in the list.

In almost every tour, Virat scored a fifty in Australia. His best performances came in the 2016 and 2020 bilaterals against Australia, along with the T20 World Cup in 2022.
