Ravindra Jadeja found himself in the middle of an unusual dismissal that doesn’t occur every day in the Indian Premier League. The 35-year-old was given out Obstructing the field during the 61st game of the season between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. 

It was a key moment in the game as the Chennai Super Kings needed to win to keep their hopes alive. Sanju Samson decided to appeal right away just as he saw Ravindra Jadeja being hit by the ball. 

Once the third umpire was conferred it was confirmed that the batter had indeed changed his course. It was also seen that Ravindra Jadeja was very well aware that the throw was coming his way and this cost him his wicket.

3. Yusuf Pathan (KKR) vs Pune Warriors India – IPL 2013

The first ever batter to be dismissed in this fashion was none other than Yusuf Pathan during the IPL 2013 season. The former India star was batting on 72 when he kicked the ball away while trying to steal a quick run. The Pune Warriors side decided to appeal and the umpires came together and declared the batter out. Yusuf Pathan wasn’t thrilled about it but at the end of the day he had to comply with the rules. 

2. Amit Mishra (DC) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad – IPL 2019

The match between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad was already on the knifes edge as it was a key playoff match in IPL 2019. Amit Mishra in a bid to take a quick run and Khaleel Ahmed threw the bowl to run him out. The SRH fielders appealed as their former player had decided to change the tracks while running and Amit Mishra was given out obstructing the field. For the record Delhi won the game with a ball to spare and two wickets left.

Chennai Super Kings were in a tight spot while chasing 142 to win against Rajasthan Royals. Ravindra Jadeja was the key as he came to the wicket and joined Ruturaj Gaikwad to take their team over the line. The drama of the match took a new turn when Jadeja was hit by the ball and Sanju Samson appealed for obstructing the field. Third umpire agreed with the view of the Royals skipper as Jadeja was sent packing to become the third batter to be dismissed in his manner.
