The second game of the three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka holds a key significance. India in particular will want to continue to keep the stranglehold over the hosts. The men in blue have already won the T20I series with a 3-0 margin and will want to continue in the same vein.

Rohit Sharma and his men didn’t have a great outing with the bat as they couldn’t chase down the 231 runs target set by Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma was the only batter who came out with a positive frame of mind.

Ahead of the second ODI match the Indian team will be motivated to give better performance on the field. There could be a few changes that could take place for the second game on Sunday.

Here are the top 3 changes India could make for the third ODI

3- Khaleel Ahmed to replace Arshdeep Singh

India might opt to go for Khaleel Ahmed in place of Arshdeep Singh as the Delhi Capitals pacer bowls with better speed and can swing the ball a lot more. One of the biggest drawbacks that Arshdeep Singh has is the fact that he doesn’t have too much pace. Khaleel Ahmed can also extract disconcerting bounce off the track. Khaleel Ahmed will also be a good choice if there is adequate cloud cover for the bowlers.

2- Riyan Parag to replace Washington Sundar

If Washington Sundar misses out it will not be because of his performances, it will only be because Riyan Parag offers more consistency with the bat. Riyan Parag has shown that he belongs to the international stage. The youngster has been impressing everyone with his newfound maturity on the field. His exploits with the ball during the T20I series have also been praiseworthy

1- Harshit Rana to replace Shivam Dube

994

Shivam Dube played his first ODI in over five years and did reasonably well with the bat and also with the ball. In the absence of Hardik Pandya the men in blue would have hoped for Shivam Dube to step up to the plate. Harshit Rana is coming into the team on the back of a successful IPL 2024 season. The youngster is easily the quickest bowler with the ability to bowl at over 140 KPH. Harshit Rana is also a more than capable batter who can bat well against the spin bowlers.
