India will be playing an ODI series of three matches and a T20I series of five matches against Australia in their backyard in October-November 2025. India's tour of Australia will start with the ODI series and the first match will be played at the Optus Stadium in Perth. It will act as a big series for some of the key Indian players in the leadup to the ODI World Cup 2027.

India will be without the services of some of its best ODI bowlers in the series against Australia. While Jasprit Bumrah is rested from the tour, Mohammed Shami wasn't picked in the squad. Hence, the Indian attack will be fairly young and will be under the scanners, considering some of them might be in the scheme of things for the ODI World Cup 2027.

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj was dropped from the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 earlier this year, which raised a lot of eyebrows. However, the Indian pacer is back in the ODI setup for the series against Australia. He could start for India in the first ODI.

Siraj is someone who steps up in the absence of big players. Since India is without the services of Jasprit Bumrah and Shami, Siraj can be expected to perform in their absence. If he does, Siraj will make a huge mark in the leadup to the ODI World Cup 2026.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav is India's premier spinner in ODIs. For a long time, he has been one of the key bowlers in the Indian lineup. As the ODI World Cup 2027 will be in Africa, not many spinners might be picked in the squad, which leads to a big competition among the spinners.

Having a wicket taker in the middle overs is key for an ODI side. Kuldeep has a good record in South Africa and is hence looked as the first-choice option. He would love to continue his good form in ODIs by performing in the series against Australia, which could further strengthen his spot in the side.

Harshit Rana

Harshit Rana has been under the scanner ever since he has been picked in almost every squad in every format in 2025. Rana had a role in India's win in the Champions Trophy 2025 earlier this year. Hence, he is likely to start in the side in Bumrah, Shami, and Hardik Pandya's absence.

All the focus will be on the pace bowler, who will have a good opportunity to justify his selection. While Rana can go for runs, he can claim wickets and put pressure on the opposition. Not to forget, he brings value to the side with his batting abilities too. However, it's his bowling which matters to the team.
