The T20 World Cup 2026 will take place in February and March. The tournament is only about 50 days away from starting. India is set to play 10 T20Is, 5 each against South Africa and New Zealand, respectively, before their title defense. The series against the 2024 finalists will be key for India's preparation.

Tilak Varma hasn't been at his best in 2025, unlike 2024, where he scored runs for fun at an aggressive rate. While he did have a great outing against England, Tilak hasn't fared as well since then. The series against the Proteas will be key for him to return back to form and gain the much needed confidence.
Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, India's trump cards in batting against South Africa
Suryakumar Yadav has had his worst year in international cricket as a batter in 2025. He hasn't been at his best more often than not. However, against Australia, he seemed in a fine touch in the chances he got to bat. The Indian skipper will hope to continue it against South Africa.

Abhishek Sharma will be the batter to watch out for in the series, who has been the best T20I batter of the year. The world no.1 T20I batter has been in a purple patch, scoring runs for fun at an aggressive rate. Once set, he will be hard to be stopped, which makes him a very dangerous batter.
