With just under ten days to go for the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the focus is on the ten sides who will take to the field. Former champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will look to win the title for the sixth time. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), on the other hand, will look to win their first ever title. Rajat Patidar was recently named as the captain of the side ahead of the IPL 2025 season.

Ever since the start of the league season, there are few players who have played for both CSK and RCB. Former Australian star Shane Watson is one of those players who has played across both sides of the border. Watson scored a century in the IPL 2018 final to help CSK beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the finals.
Some of the other names who have played for CSK and RCB are Muttiah Muralitharan, Parthiv Patel, Subramanium Badrinath, Moeen Ali, Albie Morkel, Brendon McCullum, leg-spinner Karn Sharma, and former India batter Robin Uthappa. Some of the players have even won the IPL titles with the Men in Yellow.

Australian pace ace Josh Hazlewood has played 27 matches in the IPL. and has played for two teams. The two sides in question are CSK and RCB and Hazlewood has picked 35 wickets in total. 34-year-old pacer will play for RCB in IPL 2025 after being brought for INR 12.50 Crores. Hazlewood played for CSK in IPL 2020 and 2021 for CSK and his 11 wickets in his second season played a key role in Chennai winning the title. Hazlewood had his best season in the IPL, where he picked 20 wickets for RCB in 2022 before taking three wickets next season in 2023.

India’s ace all-rounder Shivam Dube has so far played for three teams in the IPL. The 31-year-old first played for RCB in the 2019 and 2020 seasons of the IPL, scoring 169 runs from 15 matches. Dube also picked up four wickets with the ball for RCB in the 2020 season before being released as the Rajasthan Royals picked him up for a season. In 2022, Dube made his way to Chennai, where his fortunes changed. So far, Dube has played 41 games for CSK and scored 1103 runs with a best of 95 not out along with eight half-centuries.

Former South African skipper Faf Du Plessis made his IPL debut with CSK in the 2012 season. When Chennai were handed a two-year ban, Du Plessis was picked up by the Rising Pune Super Giants before heading back to Chepuak in 2018. Faf Du Plessis played 92 games for CSK, scoring 2721 runs with an average of 35 and hitting twenty half-centuries. After being released post the IPL 2021 season, Du Plessis went to RCB and played 45 matches, scoring a further 1636 runs with an average of 38, which also included 15 fifties.
